Seeing a GP is the first step when you are not feeling well, have symptoms or want to understand your general health. Our doctor will examine you carefully, assess risk factors if any and discuss your condition with you. Finally, he or she will draw up a clear treatment plan and assess whether you need further tests or consultation with another specialist.

При какви симптоми и оплаквания е необходим преглед от общопрактикуващ лекар?

    • Headache, dizziness, general weakness
    • Chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath
    • Abdominal pain, stomach discomfort, bloating

If you're not sure which specialist to see, start by seeing a GP.

How does the examination with the general practitioner proceed?

  1. Discussing your complaints and health condition
The doctor will ask you what your complaints are, how they change, what chronic diseases you have, what medications you take, do you have a family history (e.g. heart disease, diabetes, etc.).
  2. Physical examination
Depending on the complaints, the examination may include measurement of blood pressure, pulse, ECG, temperature, auscultation of the lungs, palpation of the abdomen and abdominal organs, lymph nodes, etc.
  3. Assessment for further studies
If necessary, the doctor may request laboratory tests (blood, urine), imaging studies or other tests. Discuss why they are needed, what information they will give and what the next steps will be.
  4. Diagnosis, treatment plan and follow-up
According to the results of the examination, a probable diagnosis is made and a treatment plan is drawn up - drug therapy, lifestyle changes, check-ups. If necessary, the general practitioner can refer you to a specific specialist.

Our goal is to get a comprehensive picture of your condition and a clear plan on how to improve or maintain your health.

Periodic preventive examinations help to detect and prevent serious diseases such as high blood pressure, pre-diabetic conditions, strokes, heart attacks, etc. in time.

When is emergency care needed rather than a planned examination?

Symptoms where an immediate response is needed:

  • Sudden, severe chest pain, squeezing or burning, shortness of breath, sweating, epigastric pain( in the stomach area), nausea, numbness of the extremities, etc.
  • Sudden weakness in one half of the body, difficulty speaking, headache, sweating, general malaise, dizziness.
  • Sudden severe shortness of breath, choking, swelling of the face and neck.
  • Loss of consciousness or seizures
  • Severe, uncontrollable bleeding

!!! In case you have these symptoms, immediately seek emergency help by calling 112 or the nearest emergency room.

Frequently Asked Question

What do I need to bring with me?
It is a good idea to bring all available epicrises, test results, a list of medicines you take. This way the doctor will have a more complete picture and will be able to make a correct diagnosis more easily.
How often should I have a check-up?
Depends on age and risk factors. In healthy people without serious complaints, an annual checkup with baseline tests is usually sufficient. In the presence of chronic diseases, more frequent check-ups may be necessary - this is specified individually.
Can I come to you if I already have a GP?
Yeah. Seeing our GP is not a substitute for seeing your personal GP, but you may get a second opinion, further consultation or quicker access to review and assess your condition.
When are lab tests appointed?
If necessary, laboratory or other tests may be ordered depending on the nature and severity of the complaints and the doctor's judgment. You will be given clear instructions where and how to have them done.
Do you work with patients on insurance?
Reflex Medical Center serves patients from Bulgaria and abroad with medical insurance. When making an appointment you can specify the type of insurance so that we can give you additional information.
